21 people hospitalized with symptoms of chlorine poisoning after incident in Polish swimming pool

Over 20 people were hospitalized with symptoms of chlorine poisoning after a swimming pool in Poland had up to ten times the normal amount of the chemical.

Rescue services were alerted to chlorine poisoning at a swimming pool in Warsaw on Friday evening.

During an examination, they discovered that the level of chlorine in the water had significantly exceeded the norm – at the bottom of the pool it was ten times higher than typical and on the water surface around three times higher.

21 people were taken to hospitals with symptoms of chlorine poisoning.

Four children were still under observation in Polish hospitals on Saturday morning, according to local police.

Three swimming pool employees were detained by police after the incident due to their direct connection with the pool’s infrastructure.

The Polish public prosecutor’s office will decide on further steps as it has not yet been established why the concentration of chlorine in the pool had been so dramatically exceeded.
