Turkey’s Borsa Istanbul starts day 1.35% up

ANKARA

Turkey’s benchmark stock index started the day up 1.35% or 1,354.83 points to open at 102,311.82 points on Tuesday.

On Monday, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index fell 0.22% to close the day at 100,020.65 points with a daily trading volume of 6.19 billion Turkish liras ($1.08 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.6830 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday, versus 5.7380 at Monday’s close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.2470, down from 6.3070, and one British pound traded for 7.0840 Turkish liras, compared to 7.1360.

One barrel of Brent oil sold for $64.22 as of 10.30 a.m. local time (0730GMT) on Tuesday.
