More than 20 people have been injured in Russia after a train collided with a truck in the southwestern Volgograd Region.
Speaking to local news agency TASS, a law enforcement officer confirmed the incident, saying, “So far, over 20 people have been reported injured as a truck collided with a train”.
Via its Telegram channel, Russian Railways confirmed that eight carriages of the passenger train derailed in the collision.
Relief teams and repair trains were immediately dispatched to the scene, while service on the part of the railway line impacted has been halted indefinitely.
Officials say more than 800 people were on board the train travelling from Kazan in the Russian Volga republic of Tatarstan to Adler on Russia’s Black Sea coast.
