Adapted from Suzanne Collins‘ 2020 novel of the same name and set 64 years before the events of the first film The Hunger Games (2012). The production, directed by Francis Lawrence, had its world premiere in Berlin, Germany, on November 5, 2023. The Hunger Games is one of the highest-grossing film series of all time, grossing over US$2.97 billion worldwide. The sequel has a budget of 100 million dollars. For the movie The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, We can also call it the origin story of Coriolanus Snow, whom we know as President Snow in the Hunger Games universe. With this production, secrets and unknowns about Snow’s past are revealed. Rachel Zegler, one of the leading actresses of the film, rose to fame with the 2021 film adaptation of West Side Story, directed by Steven Spielberg, and was nominated for the Golden Globe Awards. American actress and singer Rachel Zegler‘s scenes were decorated with musical transitions and songs, adding an impressive dramatic performance to the film. The film tells the birth of the nation of Panem living among the ruins in a place once known as North America, the secrets the Capitol keeps, and the story of heroes fighting with hope to survive.

THEMATIC CONTENT
While writing The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins for thematic content; cites the Myth of Theseus in Greek mythology as coming from a variety of sources, including Roman gladiatorial games and contemporary reality television, as well as his father’s experiences in the Vietnam War and news footage of the Iraq War. However, when we look at the essence of the story, we see that the concepts of Chosen One and Hero in dystopia are at the center of the story. In addition, in its subtext, we see the concepts of bio-politics and self-techniques of the French philosopher Michel Foucault, one of the greatest thinkers of the twentieth century, as well as the Master-Slave Dialectic, one of the key elements in Hegel’s philosophy

Another detail is found in the scene where Lucy Gray Baird and Coriolanus Snowfall into the zoo. In Kurt Vonnegut’s novel Slaughterhouse-Five; The character Billy is kidnapped by a flying saucer on Barbara’s wedding night and taken to a planet called Tralfamadore, away from Earth. In Tralfamadore, Billy is put on display in a transparent geodesic dome exhibit at a zoo. Here, just like what happened to Billy, we see that Lucy Gray Baird and Coriolanus Snow are also exhibited and share the same fate.
