A THRILLER AND STRATEGY GAME
Premiered on Apple TV + on June 28, 2023, Hijack, is a seven-episode thriller mini-series starring BAFTA and Primetime Emmy Award-nominated British actor Idris Elba. When it was hijacked during his seven-hour flight from Dubai to London, flight KA29, one of the passengers on the plane, Sam Nelson (a professional corporate negotiator), tried to save everyone on the plane using his extraordinary strategy skills. Creating a different tension in the audience in each episode, the series invites the viewer to an adrenaline-filled adventure with its fluid story and non-stop action. Hijack series, which aims to convey the panic and fear experienced during plane hijackings at the level of psychological tension, follows in the footsteps of Oscar-nominated British director Paul Greengrass‘s cult film Flight 93 and Wolfgang Petersen‘s Air Force One (1997). With the story of the series told without dwelling on flashback scenes, We experience events in real-time and thus become part of the adventure. The high-risk, deadly strategy game described in Hijack actually tells a kind of life-or-death war story where tension takes place in a single location. But on the other hand, we witness the mind game of a master corporate negotiator who acts with his intuition and intelligence. But on the other hand, we witness the mind game of a master corporate negotiator who acts with his intuition and intelligence. Immanuel Kant, one of the founding philosophers of German philosophy, in his masterpiece called The Critique of Pure Reason; “Without intuition, our entire understanding of objects is incomplete.” says. Kant states that the elements of pure rational understanding and that no object everywhere can be thought of without it because it is the logic of reality. We see the importance of this concept through the character of Sam Nelson, who uses his intuition to engage in a psychological battle of intelligence with the hijackers who hijacked the plane.

SET DESIGN
The shooting of the series took place in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, England. Production designer Andrew Purcell and his team built an entire 1:1 scale Airbus A330 (including a working cockpit) for the set. Although the set is focused on authenticity, there are many critical differences between the designed set and an actual aircraft. For example, the set had to be detachable in many parts and more than 200 people had to be able to get on and off the platform every day. A variety of built-in cameras on set also allowed for dramatic camera cuts, allowing for increased tension and the feeling that the audience was truly part of the action. In the series, 200,000 dollars were spent for each episode; The realism of every detail inside the jet, down to the airline logos on the screens, was meticulously ensured. Additionally, the cockpit’s avionics were wired to a real flight simulator, and everything from the aircraft to the aircraft interior décor was carefully created by the design team to ensure the most realistic set of images.
DETAILS
-While since 9/11 cockpit doors and locks have been strengthened, it is a misconception that pilots cannot open cockpit doors during flight. Pilots and flight deck crew; to use the restroom, allow flight attendants to bring food, and they can also open the door in case of malfunction.
-Pilots have emergency codes that can be transmitted to ground control if there is a hijacking. They can set the transponder code to 7500 (hijacking) to notify ATC.
HIJACK
Hijack, a thriller series full of action and excitement, will drag you into an adrenaline-filled adventure.
