Turkey’s Cakiroglu claims silver in women’s boxing

ISTANBUL

Turkey’s Buse Naz Cakiroglu has claimed the silver medal in the Women’s World Boxing Championship in the 51-kg category after losing to Russia’s Liliya Aetbaeva.

Cakiroglu, in the semifinal, eliminated India’s Chungneijang Mary Kom Hmangte, who is a six time world champion.

The championship will continue with two gold medal matches on Sunday for Turkey. Elif Guneri (81 kg) will face Russian Zenfira Magomedalieva and Busenaz Surmeneli (69 kg) will fight against Chinese Liu Yang.
