Turkey’s Borsa Istanbul up at open

ISTANBUL

Turkey’s benchmark stock index rose by 0.16% or 167.13 points to start Thursday at 102,097.20 points.

On Wednesday, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index increased by 0.48% to close the day at 101,930.07 points with a daily trading volume of 8.1 billion Turkish liras ($1.4 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.6840 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Thursday, compared to 5.6650 at Wednesday’s close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also rose to 6.2840, versus 6.2680, and one British pound traded for 7.1050 Turkish liras, while it was 7.0900 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for around $63.60 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Thursday.
