Turkey’s Borsa Istanbul flat at open

ISTANBUL

Turkey’s benchmark stock index rose slightly by 0.02% or 23.26 points to start Wednesday at 101,470.65 points.

On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index decreased by 1.11% to close the day at 101,447.39 points with a daily trading volume of 9.9 billion Turkish liras ($1.74 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 5.6920 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday compared to 5.7000 at Tuesday’s close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also stood at 6.2990, versus 6.2950, and one British pound traded for 7.1230 Turkish liras, while it was 7.1070 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $64.70 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Wednesday.
