Turkish ambassador to Ethiopia met with Ethiopian foreign minister on Monday.
The talks focused on matters of bilateral interests, Ambassador Yaprak Alp, who is also a permanent representative to the African Union, told Anadolu Agency after the meeting.
She said Foreign Minister Gedu Andargachew encouraged more Turkish investments to engage in various fields of development in Ethiopia.
She said Ethiopia gives importance to Turkish foreign direct investment in Ethiopia.
Citing foreign minister’s remarks, the ambassador said Ethiopia is taking serious steps to revise policies to ease regulations to facilitate the free flow of investment.
Alp noted that Turkish investment in Ethiopia to date amounts to $2.5 billion, which she said is the largest in Sub-Saharan Africa.
There are 200 Turkish companies operating in various sectors of investment in Ethiopia, she said.
Turkish investment in Sub-Saharan Africa stands at $6 billion.
