ANKARA
Ankara has welcomed Uzbekistan’s application to join the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States as a full member, Turkey’s Foreign Ministry said Saturday.
Uzbekistan has completed the internal procedures necessary for its accession to the Nakhichevan Agreement, the founding document of the Turkic Council, and delivered its Instrument of Accession, the ministry said in a statement.
“The necessary procedures and notifications were also completed by the Turkish side today in accordance with its relevant article. The Nakhichevan Agreement shall enter into force for Uzbekistan on Oct. 14, 2019,” it added.
The addition of “friendly and brotherly” Uzbekistan to the council as a full member will further reinforce solidarity within the Turkic world.
