Turkey’s Borsa Istanbul up at weekly close

ISTANBUL 

Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed the week at 103,071.80 points on Friday, up 0.61% from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index started the day at 102,706.52 points. As of today’s close, it gained 624.54 points from Thursday’s close of 102,447.26 points.

During Friday’s trading, the index’s deepest level was 102,309.28 points and the highest one was 103,258.48 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 683.7 billion Turkish liras ($119.3 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 7.3 billion Turkish liras ($1.3 billion).

On the last transaction day of the week, 67 stocks on the index rose, 24 were down, and nine were flat compared to Thursday.

The top-listed companies by market value were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding and private lenders Garanti and Akbank.

The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, Garanti, and state lender Halkbank.

Conglomerate Metro Holding was the best performer on Friday, with its shares up 19.74%, while stocks of energy company Odas Elektrik dropped most, down 3.80%.

According to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, the price of one ounce of gold was around $1,504.20 by market close, up from $1,504.00 at the previous close.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $60.10 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Friday.
