FIBA World Cup: Aussies beat Czechs to be in semis

ANKARA 

Australia won against the Czech Republic 82-70 to march their way onto the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup semifinals on Wednesday.

San Antonio Spurs’ guard Patty Mills was the key player for Australia, scoring 24 points and producing six assists in Shanghai Oriental Sports Center, China.

Australia’s shooting guard Chris Goulding scored 14 points against the Czech Republic.

Meanwhile Czech center Patrik Auda played with 21 points but Czech guard Tomas Satoransky was the top performer for the European team.

Chicago Bulls’ point guard scored 13 points, made 13 assists and had nine rebounds but Satoransky’s individual efforts couldn’t bring victory to Czechs.

Wednesday’s victors Australia will face Spain in the final four.

Earlier Wednesday, France stunned Team USA in World Cup quarterfinals, eliminating Americans 89-79 in Dongguan, China.

Team USA’s 58-game winning streak came to an end with an 79-89 loss to France in the last eight.

France will take on Argentina in the semis.

The China 2019 semifinals will be held on Friday.
